Day 25, Monday, 17 June, Lake Johnson to Phillipsburg, KS

I have two general comments. All green fields that extend for as far as the eye can see resemble each other. Second, Kansas lost a great photo opportunity.

The day started with a seven mile ride to Elwood retracing our truck ride from last night. Once we turned east, the terrain flattened and we saw green fields . Every seven miles or so we passed through a small town with a large granary. Around mile 35 we turned left and headed south towards Kansas. After a late lunch we entered Kansas, but, to our surprise, did not see the traditional welcome to our state sign. No sign = no photo.  We rode rolling hills to Phillipsburg, where we secured a campsite with shower at a city park.

We rode 86.73 miles at an average speed of 13.0 mph. My maximum speed was 28.6 mph. After riding into town for dinner, the total number of miles was 88.22 miles.
