Day 22, Friday, 14 June, Scottsbluff to Cedar Vue Campground, Lake Mcconaughy

We covered 105.05 miles in just over six hours in the saddle. Louis and I think it is our fastest century ever. We averaged 15.6 mph for the day and over 19 for the first part of the ride when the wind was at our backs. My maximum speed as 31.0 mph.

The great plains approach. The terrain is much flatter.

The scenery is mostly corn, wheat, and hay fields. We say several fields full of rolls of hay. The corn is about six inches high. We also say a few stock yards, two huge silos, and what we think was a fox.

Visual highlights were final views of Scottsbluff and passing by Chimney Rock. These fixtures helped guide immigrants following the Oregon Trail.

We have a cactus blooming at our campsite.
