Day 41, Wednesday, 3 July, Yellow Springs to Columbus

My vivid memory from today's ride is riding on a paved bike path with corn fields on both simples while watching cardinals fly across the path in front of us. We headed east from the campsite and picked up the Prairie Grass Trail, which we followed until it ended just outside of Columbus. Google maps gave us a decent route into the city route with only a few miles of road with too many cars and too little shoulder. We're turned to our old friend, US 40. Following 40 into the city give us a wonderful panorama of the skyline. At lunch we learned the the city sponsors Boom, an event with bands and a parade that culminates in fireworks. From the number of vendors and size of the footprint, we could tell that the crowd would eventually be massive. After cruising around the venue and hearing some music, we followed a bike path along the river past OSU and then headed east to our hotel. We headed back towards town after showers and rest to eat at The Crest, a gastopub.

We rode about 75 miles.
